Why Pesto, a massive penguin chick, is vying to be the internet's favorite big baby

The internet loves big babies - at least according to the fervor around its latest super star, Pesto the seriously huge baby penguin.

Pesto the baby penguin is already taller than his parents. Now he’s a social media star

Pesto’s biological father, Blake, is one of the aquarium’s oldest and largest penguins. But he’s being raised by Tango and Hudson, younger penguins whom Sea Life keepers wanted to try out as parents. Many of the 60 penguins have food-themed names, including Pudding, Whopper, and Lamingtons.

Pesto the baby penguin clocks in at 50 lbs.

Pesto is a nine-month-old King penguin living at the Melbourne Aquarium in Australia. He's fluffy and brown like a penguin chick but towers over his parents. Pesto weighs 50 pounds.
