Memorial services for San Diego Police officer Austin Machitar, who died on Aug. 26 after a fiery crash in Clairemont, will be held Saturday.

Family, friends, and colleagues gathered Saturday to honor Officer Austin Machitar, who was killed in the line of duty during a high-speed pursuit in late August.

The San Diego Police Department was 3.6 times more likely to stop Black people than white people based on stops per 10,000 residents. But the rate at which SDPD officers are stopping Black people has declined for four consecutive years.
