A mentally ill man who killed 10 people at a Colorado supermarket in 2021 has been found guilty of murder and faces life in prison

Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa was convicted by a jury of 10 counts of murder at a Colorado supermarket. His defense team had argued he was mentally ill.

The jury trial hinged not on whether Ahmad Al Alissa opened fire but whether the mentally ill man understood the difference between right and wrong.

Tyler Quirion, 20, pleaded not guilty Monday in connection with the killing of Justin Iraola on Feb. 19 in Waterville.

Defense attorneys did not dispute that Ahmad Alissa, who has schizophrenia, fatally shot 10 people including a police officer in the college town of Boulder. But he pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, with the defense arguing he couldn’t tell right from wrong at the time of the attack.
