Two people were hospitalized Thursday following single-vehicle crash into a guardrail on the Garden State Parkway in Essex County, authorities said. The crash occurred about 4:25 a.m. in the northbound lanes near milepost 150.

The crash happened just before midnight on Saturday on the northbound side of the parkway in Woodbridge Township.

One man was transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident. When first responders arrived at the intersection of West 26th and Sassafras streets around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, they found a box truck traveling east along West 26th Street had collided with an SUV heading south on Sassafras.

A Brick resident died Saturday morning when his SUV overturned while exiting the Garden State Parkway in Atlantic County, police said. Troy E. Thompson, 62, was driving southbound shortly before 9:30 a.m. when he took the 38A exit ramp in Egg Harbor Township, according to a New Jersey State Police spokesman.
