India had to toil a bit for the first wicket but one brought two as Akash Deep was on a roll, not for the first time in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. India opted to bowl after winning the toss in overcast conditions in Kanpur in the second game.

Akash Deep picked up two wickets in the first session against Bangladesh, his second wicket of Shadman Islam was particularly a memorable one as Indian captain Rohit Sharma was not convinced. Akash Deep convinced Rohit for the DRS and the replays left the Indian captain elated with the Bangladesh opener adjudged LBW.

Akash Deep made a strong start to the second Test, removing both of Bangladesh openers within the first hour of Day 1.
